Paolo Benedetti founded Aquatic Technology in 1993, upon the premise that "excellence is the choice of two alternatives." He used this concept to rocket his firm to the forefront of aquatic design, delivering the utmost in aesthetic design, high-quality construction, and customer service.

His passion for pools is apparent the moment anyone meets him, and his enthusiasm is instantly contagious. This passion for his craft has allowed him to create some of the most mechanically and structurally complex swimming pools ever built, while maintaining their subtle simplicity.

Recognized by the State of California as a "subject matter expert," Paolo assisted in writing and editing the State's newest swimming pool contractor's examination. A prolific author, he frequently writes articles on the finer points of swimming pool design & construction. He also strives to raise the consciousness of the industry, by teaching swimming pool design and construction to international audiences. Paolo continues to push the design envelope, pioneering many new techniques, features, and concepts. While he designs 40+ projects each year for property owners (& even other pool builders!), he limits his personal construction to 8-10 projects annually.

His designs have been featured in the New York Times, USA Today, Water Shapes Magazine, Millionaire Magazine (Netherlands), Outdoor Living Magazine, cover shots on both Pool Lifestyles and Aqua Magazines, and a feature segment on Tech TV. He has won numerous national & international design awards, including the coveted "2003 Pool Design of the Year - Pool Lifestyles Magazine." 4 of his projects will be featured in soon to be published coffee table book, "Pool Ideas."

Paolo has been recognized by the editors of numerous swimming pool & spa industry magazines, as one of the true masters of watershape design. One editor has called him "one of the top 10 designers and builders in the world." These editors review thousand of swimming pools, spas, and water features each year.

In 1999 Paolo crossed paths with the founders of Genesis 3, while attending one of their Level 1 Design Schools. He immediately recognized they shared a mutual affinity for perfection. In 2000, he joined Genesis 3 as an Associate Member - reaffirming his devotion to excellence above all else. He continued his education by attending the first Genesis 3 Level 2 Design School, Fountain School, Landscape Lighting School, & Architectural Rendering School. He has also attended specialized schools in fluid dynamics & hydraulic design, structural engineering, concrete construction, and fiberoptic lighting. He is also a member of NSPI, American Concrete Institute, American Shotcrete Association, Calif. Swimming Pool Education Council (SPEC), and he is both a Licensed California General Contractor & Swimming Pool Contractor.

In the fall of 2005, Paolo completed a series of study programs in the watershape design field. He attended every course of study offered in the program's curriculum. Subsequently, he became one of the first members to become CERTIFIED by the Society of Watershape Designers.
